About Ethical Ltd

How It Works

A calm audit is usually a better audit.

The sequence is designed to reduce theatre. Scope clearly, arrive early enough to see the working day begin, test evidence, then leave people with a report they can act on.

Step 1

Scope And Documents

We confirm the site, process, worker count, shifts, audit deadline and whether the visit is announced or unannounced. Unannounced audits are only offered where the client can show a contractual right of access to the site.

A 40% deposit is due to hold an audit date. The balance is due 14 days after the report is issued. Typical lead time is 10 working days for UK audits and 3-5 weeks for overseas work where an interpreter or local partner is needed.

Step 2

Site Day

Audit days on site usually start at 08:00 where possible to catch clock-in and production briefings. The day normally includes an opening meeting, health and safety walk-through, records review, payroll and working-hour checks, worker interviews and a closing discussion with management.

Worker interviews are kept private. Records are sampled rather than swallowed whole. The closing meeting separates quick fixes from findings that need wage correction, management decisions or brand-side escalation.

Step 3

Report

For a standard UK audit, the written report is issued within 5 working days. Reports are normally supplied as a PDF with a spreadsheet action log, so the factory and buyer can work from the same list.

Findings are written in plain language with evidence notes, risk level and practical next steps. Board-summary slides are available as an optional £180 + VAT add-on.

Step 4

Remediation

Some fixes are quick: missing policies, blocked routes, unclear notices or poor document control. Others need realistic time: payroll corrections, working-time changes, subcontractor declarations, homeworker visibility and health and safety improvements that require spending money.

Follow-up can be a remote evidence review for £420 + VAT or a half-day on-site visit within Yorkshire, Lancashire or Greater Manchester for £780 + VAT.
